Margo translates speech and text. This is what we collect and where it goes. We keep it minimal.
What we collect
- Account — your email and name, to run your account and subscription.
- Device & region — device model, OS, app version, and coarse country/region.
- Usage — which features you use and how much.
How translation works
To translate, your speech and text are sent to Microsoft Azure (Speech and Translator) and returned to your app. We don't store your audio or translated content — only counts needed for limits and billing. Microsoft handles this data under the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
AI Tutor (beta)
If you use the Tutor, your messages are sent through our server to our AI providers, Anthropic or Google Gemini, to generate replies.
Camera
Photo and live translation run on your device. Images are not uploaded.
Location (optional)
If granted, used to set your translation language. Stored as a region code, not GPS coordinates.
Permissions
Microphone (required to speak); camera and location (optional). Revoke anytime in system settings.
Sharing
If you share Margo, we record the referral code to credit referrals.
Who we share with
Microsoft Azure (translation), Anthropic and Google Gemini (tutor), and Google Play (payments). We don't sell your data or use it for ads.
Keeping & deleting your data
We keep data while your account is active. Delete your account and data anytime at gomargo.co/delete-account.
Children
Margo is for ages 13+.
